Job Description for Music Director
Knox United Church, Lower Sackville, NS is looking for an enthusiastic, competent person for the position of Organist/Choir Director. We have a 20-member Senior Choir, which meets on Wednesday evenings, and enjoys a challenge with special music and cantatas. The successful candidate would also be responsible for developing a teen music program. Knox has both a pipe organ and a grand piano. Proficiency in playing multiple instruments would be an asset. The Organist/Choir Director will work collaboratively with the minister, Worship Team, and Alternative Worship Service Team to enhance the worship and music life of the congregation for the two weekly worship services, including extra services, such as Advent, Christmas Eve, Easter, etc. The congregation enjoys both traditional and contemporary music. The traditional Voices United hymn book, as well as the supplemental, More Voices, are both utilized. The position will also be required to provide music for weddings and funerals. This part-time position is guaranteed a minimum of 12 hours/week. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be based on the RCCO scale.
