Job Description for Children & Youth Ministries Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promotes and supervises all existing programs for children and youth within the Corps.
Contributes to the spiritual development of the children and youth by mentoring, discipling, encouraging, and modeling appropriate Christian attitudes and behaviours
Seeks to develop new ministries where possible, to increase the level of spiritual maturity among our children and youth and to provide outreach to the unsaved.
Provide pastoral support to all children and youth that may be involved in various ministries.
Plans, promotes and supervises ‘special events’ (Rally Day, VBS, Camps and other Divisional Youth opportunities)
Co-ordinates, implements, maintains and assists in the evaluation of programs/ministries relevant to the children and youth of the church and the community at large
May develop and implement appropriate leadership development programs for youth and those involved in youth leadership; recruit, orient and train volunteer leaders
Conducts regular youth leadership team meetings
Maintains written records, logs of activities, (including activity reports and statistical information)
Performs general office duties and other duties as assigned.
Has input to and/or participates in preparing budgets with respect to the Youth Department
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate should:
Have a strong personal Christian commitment and spiritual maturity.
Have a passion for youth and youth ministry.
Adhere to and support the mission, policies and principles of The Salvation Army.
Have demonstrated successful involvement in working with the Church youth.
Have completed high school
Have Youth Leadership Training and Biblical studies.
Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word)
